Mijn naalden zaten tot voor kort in een klein Panter sigarenblikje. Helaas viel het blikje met enige regelmaat om en ook was het altijd zoeken naar de juiste naalden. Tijd dus om de naalden op een andere manier te bewaren.
This Ann Wood inspired handmade needle book was the solution for the little Panter cigar box. Unfortunately the cigar box fell over with some regularity. The second thing was that there was also the search for the right needles.
Sarah Jolley, de In Complete Stitches designer, liet vorig jaar op Instagram een paar zelfgemaakt patroongewichten zien. Uiteraard weer net even anders dan de bekende driehoekjes, platte vierkantjes of met stof omwikkelde carrosserieringen. Zij zegde toe een beschrijving te maken voor haar JUST weight patroongewichten die natuurlijk bij het verschijnen meteen gedownload werd. En uiteraard zijn de In Complete Stitches JUSTweight pattern weights ook meteen gemaakt.

Her pattern weights looked slightly different from the well-known triangles, flat squares or fabric-wrapped washers. She promised to make a tutorial description for her JUST weight pattern weights. So as soon as tutorial was available it was downloaded and made as well.

Waar komen mijn patronen vandaan #mijnfavorietepatronen is een blogbericht over patronen die ik zoal gebruik om van stoffen en afgedankte kleding van alles te maken. Elk werkstuk begint met een idee wat ik in mijn hoofd heb. Ik ga vervolgens op zoek naar een passende stof en patroon. Iedereen heeft zo zijn voorkeur voor patroontypes en naaitijdschriften. Jij hebt misschien wel een patroon dat je altijd maakt. Dit bericht gaat over mijn voorkeuren. Ik geef het stokje door aan Joke van Needle of Choice zodat ook zij kan vertellen over haar ‘Waar komen mijn patronen vandaan #mijnfavorietepatronen’.
Ik heb eigenlijk niet een voorkeur voor een bepaald patroon. Mijn keuze hangt vooral af van wat ik wil gaan maken. Kant-en-klaar gekochte papieren patronen, patroonbladen uit een naaitijdschrift en PDF’s zijn allemaal gebruikt in de loop der tijd. Ik heb Zonen09 Theo overhemd ondertussen al drie keer gemaakt. Je zou dus kunnen zeggen dat dit wel een favoriet is. Mijn favoriet uit het boek Drape Drape 2 is de One Piece Scoop Neck Asymmetric Top. Een prachtig voorbeeld van een T-shirt met slechts een patroondeel en als resultaat een geweldig T-shirt. Een ander voorbeeld is deze Le002 Pull. Dit is nu een voorbeeld van een anders dan anders patroon waar ik op val. Een voorkeur is er wel: ik heb het liefst patronen zonder naadtoeslagen.

Great British Sewing Bee is back at BBC2. Claudia Winkelman is still the host and Patrick Grant one of the judges and May Martin is replaced by Esme Young. Each serie has a book and this year the title is ‘From Stitch to Style’. From the book belonging to third serie I made the Drapey Knit Dress. I’ve watched the trailer and I’m looking forward to see this serie too. Yesterday started the first episode with ten contestants and three of them are male. Sadly at the end of this first round after showing their skills on basic garment construction one of the guys had to go.

Celebrating Sinterklaas is always a joy for children but also for adults. On the evening of December the fifth adults give each presents in the name of Sinterklaas.
Sinterklaas vieren is leuk voor jong en oud. Volwassenen geven elkaar op 5 december cadeautjes uit naam van Sinterklaas.
When I got home yesterday one of my neighbors was clearing out. Between the stuff she was departing from was this dress form. She knows I like to sew and asked me if it was something for me. I was in doubt and thinking if there was any space in my tiny space for this girl. Then I decided to take her home with me and see if there was a function for her. All my sewing years I’ve done without a dress form, but more then a year ago I start looking for a dress form.
Toen ik gisteren thuiskwam was een van mijn buren aan het opruimen. Tussen de spullen zat deze paspop. Zij weet dat ik kleding maak en vroeg of het iets was dat kon ik gebruiken. Ik dacht er even over of ik wel plek had voor deze dame, maar besloot haar mee naar huis te nemen. Al de jaren dat ik naai heb ik een paspop nooit gemist, alhoewel ik meer dan een jaar geleden op zoek ben gegaan naar een paspop.
If you’ve read my last post and clicked on the Cake Challenge of The Monthly Stitch you’ve perhaps noticed that last week was my birthday. Because we were away I decided to celebrate my birthday a week later. Among the presents I got yesterday was this lovely sewing box. It’s a actually a dollhouse item. My friend who gave me this sewing box has a doll house and buys sometimes items for her dollhouse. Until last month one of her sons lived in Breda together with his wife. Hesemans is a shop in Breda and when she came across this sewing box she decided to buy it for me.
Last Sunday was a grey and rainy day: the perfect day to sit together with my sewing machine and work on the three white lady suits and some other all ready cut T-shirts. All the machine work was done and after eating I would do all the sewing by hand. And then the knife came along when I was preparing evening dinner. A knife slipped into my thumb. My husband decided to take me to the hospital and instead of me doing stitching by hand the surgeon did stitches in my hand. With some good advice (keep your hand high for at least 24h, no showering and take care because the stitches can come loose) from the surgeon we went back home. (meer…)
