Who doesn’t read his/her horoscope in the doctor’s waiting room or at the dentist. Reading it while traveling with public transport in a daily is newspaper is also one of the possibilities. On Ravelry a knitting pattern for a rat was offered for free in honour of the upcoming start of the Chinese new year on January 25th.
Clearing out also let me to all my leftovers and fabric donations. All are spread on the floor in youngest daughters bedroom. They were cut into pants and shirt after sorting them. These three sets are the first items I made.
This four piece Homemade Boys Winter Set is my entry for the Sew Long Summer Blog Tour. Melissa Evans of mahlicadesigns is the host of this blog tour. We had some hot sunny days at the end of August so this weather didn’t inspired me to think about Autumn and Winter clothes. I started knitting a cardigan for a little boy this Spring. I’m not a confident and fast knitter so it took until the beginning of August to finish it. I already had plans to make also matching pants, a beanie and a tee so this idea sounded perfect for this blog tour.
While I was clearing out a few cupboards I also found some knitting yarn. It seems to be one of my habits starting knitting sweaters but never be able to finish one. Sometimes I don’t understand the instructions, the pattern is a disappointment, increasing by mistake or the knitting looks uneven and messy are just four of my long ‘why not finish a knitting project list’. I had lots of yarn from these unfinished projects and decided to find projects for it. A lot of this yarn will be used for knitting small hats for the Innocent elderly campaign. I also found some sock critters on Ravelry. These sock critters are designed to learn how to knit socks. The Little Lamb Sock Critter looked so cute so I downloaded the pattern.
This Knitted Connecting Stripes Tunnel Scarf is a leftover knitting project. So over the years I’ve knitted a few scarfs and warps. The Mondsee scarf was the last one but also the Camus wrap, Varjo, Sonnensegel, Me and You and Keffiyeh wrap came from my knitting needles. Just like I want to reduce my fabric stash I’ve the same mission for my knitting yarn. I’ve already used some lefrovers to knit tiny hats for the Innocent elderly campaign. Last winter I forgot to take a scarf while leaving public transport with me and started knitting a new one. This project was set aside when it became Spring. Weather is slightly moving towards Autumn so perfect to finish this UFO leftover project.
Mondsee scarf knitted in grey and blue is a beautiful scarf because of the rectangular shape and due to this shape it’s a very versatile shawl. The Mondsee sarf is knitted in stockinette stitch and has nine coloured sections that are made with short rows. I have this pattern more two years in my possession and I made this scarf using all kind of stash yarns.
Mondsee scarf knitted in grey and blue – the pattern
Monie Ebner is the designer of the Mondsee scarf. She has some lovely designs and this scarf is one of them. The pattern is available on Ravelry. The instructions are well written and there’s a diagram that shows the layout of the contrast colour sections. This pattern also comes with a link to Purlbee how to knit the short rows. I decided to knit a complete rectangular version and skip the fishtail sections at both ends.
Er is ook een Nederlandse versie. Deze vind je aan het eind van de Engelse tekst.
Today my contribution for the Innocent elderly campaign has been posted. In this knitting to raise money post I told you about the Innocent company raising money for to vulnerable older people among us.
A couple of weeks ago when I was clearing out and rearranging fabric I came across my knitting projects and yarn. There were three UFO’s in a bag and I decided to start finishing this three UFO’s. I haven’t set a date, because there also some sewing UFO’s who needs to be finished. Today I’ve finished one of these knitting UFO’s.
Asymmetrical triangle knitted shawl is named Me and You and You and Me. It’s a line of a song called Happy Together. The shawl is knitted with two colors. The asymmetrical triangle shape is created using short rows. The pattern is created by slipped stitches, twisted stitches and knitting stripes with both colors.
