About – the start

I’ve started this blog in 2015 on May 2015. April 2014 I decided to make all my own clothes because I couldn’t find suitable clothes anymore. The gingham dress on this page was made by me while I was in primary school. My mother has kept this dress and she gave it to me when our eldest daughter was born. Both our daughters have been wearing this dress. The whole dress is sewn by hand.

About – the next step

Sewing has always been a hobby for me. I’ve never had sewing lessons. Together with a friend I’ve followed a pattern drawing course. The pattern drawing course is a great help when I’m making sewing pattern alterations. I use sewing patterns form sewing magazines, the big four and Indie sewing pattern makers. Sometimes I draw my own sewing patterns. I try to use as much responsible and eco-friendly materials and discarded clothes as I can.

About – à la carte

Finding a name for a blog is something to think about. I decided to name my blog Sewing à la Carte because like in a restaurant it’s referring to separate items, rather than part of a set. I like to sew but I also love reading, rowing and running in my spare time. Cooking is something I do everyday and when I started this blog I decided to share all my others interests on some occasions as well with you.

About – wardrobe view

Wardrobe view is a showcase of everything I’ve made for myself since I started my blog in 2015 on May 10. I categorised all my makes in six groups. If you click on the picture you will see the makes belonging to the individual category.
