Two Sew Magazine Christmas figures

Kerstmis 2020 wordt een kerst zoals we die nog nooit hebben meegemaakt. Rede des te meer om er thuis een gezellige boel van te maken en in te zetten op een leuk vrolijk gedecoreerd huis. Zo kun je in de landen om eens heen veel items vinden die je zelf kunt maken. Een zoektocht op Engelse sites leverde bijvoorbeeld Beatrice the Angel en Darcy the Deer op. Patronen die je gratis kunt downloaden.

Christmas stocking zipper pouch

This is my final homemade sewing project for Christmas. I ended up having small scarps of fabric lying on the table after making my five other Christmas makes.
I decided to see if I could find a small project for fabric scraps to make another Christmas item. Sewing4Free has all kind of useful ideas and this Christmas stocking zipper pouch is one of them. A cute looking small stocking that has just the right size for gift card.

Homemade fabric Christmas wreath

A Christmas wreath hanging on the front door is welcoming but it also looks great hanging in the living room near the Christmas tree. Not surprisingly that a home-made Christmas wreath was on my sewing list.
Someone showed more then two years ago on Facebook this Spring wreath with the suggestion it could easily be transformed into one suitable for Christmas. I bought a straw wreath, a few Christmas fabrics and both went into bag. This bag ended up in a cupboard.
I placed this make on my monthly sewing list at the beginning of this year and now this wreath is my fifth Christmas sewing project.

Homemade Christmas gnome using discarded socks

You probably read it in one of my previous Nikolaus Tasche that I wanted to make a gnoom using discarded socks. A gnoom is part of the Scandinavian history and culture. He also has a place in their Christmas tradition as well. Time to make one. One can easily find enough patterns to make one out of fabrics but not out of socks. I made a kind of sketch and a proof model using pins. When I had something looking like a gnoom I made a paper pattern using the model as a guide line.
After the pattern was made, the body was cut and sewn together. My gnoom also has a base in the form of a circle.

Father Christmas brings surprises

Sinterklaas has almost arrived in our part of the world but Christmas isn’t far away either. Time to start thinking about what to make for Christmas. Last year I shared some ideas for homemade gifts but also two lucky pigs. These pigs both had a zipper with a kind pocket for a small gift or money. This year I made a Father Christmas brings surprises. A great idea for kids to hide a small gift for them inside. I came across this pattern at Pinterest when I was looking for ideas to make for Christmas besides my wrath. But this Nikolaus Tasche looked so cute that I decided to make this one first.

A Christmas dress

x voor heel 2The fabric and the pattern for this Christmas dress were bought more then two years ago at Stoffenspektakel in the Haarlemmermeer. One of the market stalls had a finished dress hanging made out of a pattern from the My Image magazine.

Three Refebulous 2024 makes

Het regent de laatste tijd nogal. Dat gaf soms mooi de gelegenheid om een paar voorgeknipte projecten te gaan maken. Alle drie zijn ook nog eens gemaakt van afgedankte spullen.

In Complete Stitches CosyPouch

Net als bij stoffen heb je soms ook patronen die je aanschaft en dan in de ‘wil-ik-maken-map’ verdwijnen.
De In Complete Stitches CosyPouch is daar zo’n voorbeeld van tot oudste dochter een wasknijperzak zocht.
Just like with fabrics you sometimes also have patterns that you purchase and then disappear into the ‘want-to-make-this-soon-pile’. This also happened with the CozyPouch pattern. Eldest daughter asked me to make a bag for her clothespins. Perfect moment to use this pattern.

Another Alina Design Fulton Sweater Blazer

Het is op het moment niet het beste weer in Nederland. Kou en nattigheid zorgen ervoor dat je al snel graag iets warms aantrekken.
In mijn voorraad zat deze lichtblauwe sweater stof ruim twee jaar geleden gekocht bij Jan Sikkes. Geen idee waarvoor. De Sewover50 November #So50Comfy challenge gaf mij een zetje in de goede richting.
We have some cold and rainy weather at the moment. Going through my stash a light blue sweater fabric was found. Together with a pattern that was used perfect for the new Sewover50 November #So50Comfy. The result? Another Alina Design Fulton Sweater Blazer.

Wardrobe by Me Anna shirt

Het derde stofje uit de Minerva Winter remnant box leek een beetje op flanel. Op de plank lag het Wardrobe by Me Anna shirt patroon. Een leuk iets wijd vallend model. Wat zou het mooi zijn om deze twee te combineren. Het zou echter een uitdaging worden om dit uit slechts één meter voor elkaar te krijgen.
The third fabric from the Minerva Winter remnant box had a flannel structure. It would perfect fabric for the Wardrobe by Me Anna shirt. The pleated back gives the Anna shirt a relaxed comfortable fit. It was going to be a challenge to make this shirt from only 1 meter fabric.

Zeemeerminnenstaart slaapzak voor knuffels

Er zat ook gestepte voeringstof in het Minerva winterstoffen verrassingspakket. Maar wat kun je ermee? Nu is het binnenkort Sinterklaas dus waarom geen zeemeerminnenstaart slaapzak voor knuffels gemaakt? Pinterest is altijd een goede start waar je altijd wel  een paar leuke voorbeelden vindt. Een geschikte knuffel was ook zo gevonden zodat er aan een patroontje getekend kon worden.
There was also a piece of stepped lining in the Minerva Winter remnant box. The question is: what to make of it. Father Christmas is on his way so why not a mermaid tail sleeping bag for a soft toy. That would make a nice little present for child. This small teddy bear looked like one that could use a sleeping bag.

Misusu Folded X-Mas Tree broche

Het Misusu Folded X-Mas Tree patroon is oorspronkelijk bedoeld voor een foute kersttrui. Het patroon intrigeerde mij enorm maar een foute kersttrui maken zat er door omstandigheden niet in. Na een nachtje slapen ontstond het idee voor een Misusu Folded X-Mas Tree broche.
The Misusu Folded X-Mas Tree pattern is designed to make an ugly Christmas sweater. The pattern intrigued me but sewing a sweater wasn’t going to happen. After a good night sleep I had the solution. Why not make a Misusu Folded X-Mas Tree brooch version.

Atelier Caroline patron lutin

Een comfortabele 2020 kerstoutfit

Natuurlijk is kerst 2020 ook anders dan normaal. Natuurlijk is het huis versierd en hebben we dit jaar maar weer eens ouderwets kerstkaarten versierd. Er zullen dit jaar minder mensen over de vloer komen. Ook zullen we niet op visite gaan tijdens de jaarwisseling. Maar wat trek je aan dit jaar? Je kunt natuurlijk ondanks alles flink uitpakken maar je kunt het natuurlijk ook rustig aandoen. Ik ga voor een comfortabele 2020 kerstoutfit.

Jeanius Speldenkussen wordt Deurstopper

Veel thuiszijn in deze coronatijd maakt van je huis voor de meeste mensen ook hun werkplek. Je schuift constant met je spullen heen en weer. Zo gebeurt dat veel met mijn stukken stof, spelden, patronen, klosjes garen. Materiaal ligt boven op de werkkamer maar ook beneden op de eettafel. Afhankelijk waar er op dat moment gewerkt moet worden. Maar nu de zomer op zijn eind loopt werd het tijd om de boel eens uit te zoeken, te sorteren en op te ruimen. Zo stond mijn Jeanius Speldenkussen op de eettafel en manlief vroeg waarom de deurstopper daar stond.

Arne&Carlos Magnus Hagemus

Je komt nog eens wat tegen als je de kasten uitruimt. Zo ook een zak met restanten breigaren waaronder ook donkergrijs mohair/acryl. Dit was ooit gebruikt voor een kolsjaal voor oudste dochter. Dan komt de onvermijdelijke vraag wat ermee te doen.
Iedereen heeft van die projecten die je niet kunt weerstaan. Voor mij zijn dat knuffels. Deze Arne&Carlos Magnus Hagemus uit ‘Arne & Carlos breien de bloemetjes buiten’ bleek een pima idee.

One can find all kind of leftovers when you’re clearing out like all kind of  knitting yarn. Dark grey mohair/acryl was one of these leftovers. This yarn was used to knit a cowl scarf for eldest daughter.
Looking for a way to use this yarn I came across the Arne&Carlos Magnus Hagemus pattern that was found in one of their books called ‘Arne and Carlos Knit and Crochet garden’.

Misusu Patterns Stereo Sweater becomes fitted Dress

De eerste testversie van de Misusu Patterns Stereo Sweater bevatte ook een tuniek versie. Deze was ruim boven de knie maar eindigde niet als optie bij het definitieve patroon. Deze tuniek versie pracht mij wel op het idee om later een jurk versie te maken. Stofkeuze, uitvoering: in mijn hoofd zat de jurk al in elkaar. Direct na de Sinterklaasviering was een goed moment om aan de slag te gaan omdat ik dan nog genoeg tijd hebben om de Misusu Patterns Stereo Sweater becomes fitted Dress klaar te hebben voor de kerst.

The first test version of the Misusu Patterns Stereo Sweater also had a tunic version. This version didn’t ended up in the final pattern but the tunic version made me realise that I wanted to make a dress version for Christmas.

Make Me Take Me boodschappentas

Initiative Handarbeit is een initiatief gestart om de hoeveelheid plastic boodschappentasjes terug te dringen. Je kunt op hun website diverse patronen vinden waarmee je boodschappentassen kunt stikken, haken of breien.

Zes zelfgemaakte Sinterklaas cadeautjes

Deze keer vieren wij Sinterklaasavond op 7 december. Enkele weken hebben we lootjes getrokken en daarbij bracht ik wederom het maken van surprises ter sprake. Helaas ben ik steeds de enige die hier enthousiast over is. De anderen vinden dichten al voldoende. Ik besloot voor iedereen toch iets leuks te maken. Dat resulteerde in zes zelfgemaakte Sinterklaas cadeautjes.

Celebrating Sinterklaas is always a joy for children but also for adults. This year we celebrate this event on December the 7th with some present and poems as well. I decided to make for all of us all some small handmade gifts with a limerick.

New challenges for 2019

The first day of 2019 is almost gone. After a quit New Years Eve we met each other at our annual social New Years Day neighbourhood party. I wore one of my LBD and made a plate filled with pigs in a blanket. (an idea of eldest daughter).
Besides ideas, plans and challenges for my homemade wardrobe I’m everyday working on 10k steps/day challenge.

Sewing Top Five 2018

Gillian started in 2012 the Sewing Top Five serie. The Sewing Top Five has 5 categories: hits, misses, highlights, reflections and goals. She writes individual blogposts with each categorie as subject.
I liked the idea but decided to make a mixture of all these categories in just one block of five. Why? Because I didn’t had many misses (no selfmade project was destroyed in the wash, never worn or when it failed it was unpicked and got another look). So here we go in no particular order.

My Ensemble Patterns Sunday Everyday Sweater

Christmas is over and it’s almost New Year. I’ve been wearing a dress on the first Christmas Day but the second day I wore my version of the Ensemble Patterns Sunday Everyday Sweater. It’s an oversized model. Something to wear while reading a book or cleaning the house after the Christmas meal.

Kerstmis stocking voor cadeaukaarten

Dit is mijn laatste zelfmaak project voor Kerstmis. Op tafel lagen nog allerlei kleine stofrestjes van de diverse kerstprojecten waaraan ik de afgelopen maand heb gewerkt.
Ik ging op zoek naar een project waarin ik deze kleine stofrestjes zou kunnen verwerken. Sewing4Free heeft diverse leuke ideeën voor kerst. Ik vond al zoekende deze Kerstmis stocking voor cadeaukaarten. Een leuk klein project waar niet veel stof voor nodig is.

Zelfgemaakte stoffen kerstkrans

Een kerstkrans aan de voordeur is een leuke verwelkoming van gasten maar ook aan de muur in de kamer is zo’n kerstkrans zeker niet verkeerd.,Niet verwonderlijk dus dat een zelfgemaakte kerstkrans op mijn lijstje staat.
Iemand liet ruim twee jaar geleden op Facebook deze voorjaarskrans zien met als suggestie dat het ook prima met kerststoffen te maken zou zijn.
Ik kocht een strokrans, verzamelde stoffen en om de materialen bij elkaar te houden ging alles in een tas maar deze tas belandde in een kast.
Aan het begin van het jaar plaatste ik deze zelfgemaakte stoffen kerstkrans op het maandelijkse maakprojecten lijstje en daarmee wordt deze krans mijn vijfde zelfgemaakte kerstdecoratie.

EiWeih Nikolaus voor kleine geschenken

Een groot verschil is er niet tussen Sinterklaas en de Kerstman. Het zijn beide familiefeesten waarbij vaak geschenken gegeven worden. Grote maar ook kleine geschenken.
Bij Sinterklaas mogen de kinderen een paar keer voor 5 december hun schoen zetten. De volgende dag zit er dan een kleinigheid (snoep, potloden, paar sokken) in.
In de Engels georiënteerde wereld hangt men speciale sokken (Christmas stockings) boven de open haard. De Kerstman vult deze dan ook met een kleinigheid. Veel winkels hebben een groot aanbod van dergelijke ‘stocking fillers’.

EiWeih Nikolaus for small gifts

There isn’t a big difference between Sinterklaas and Father Christmas. Both are spend with family and friends. Often presents are found near the fire place or under the Christmas tree. These Presents can be big or small, cheap or expensive.
Children in the Netherlands are allowed to put a shoe near the fire place in the evening a few times before the fifth of December. Then they sing a song or two and the next morning the find a small gift (some sweet, pencils, a pair of socks) in their shoe.
Christmas stockings are for Christmas and they usually hang above the fire place. Father Christmas fills them with small gifts and one can find many of these so called ‘stocking fillers’ in lots of shops.

Patty Doo Geo-Bag denim version

In the meantime it is almost halfway October. Time to start making homemode gifts for the coming holidays. I set the Patty Doo Geo-Bag on my ‘sewing ideas for Sinterklaas and Christmas list’ as soon as this pattern was alive. This Patty Doo Geo-Bag is such a genius pattern. You fold an odd shaped piece of fabric, stitch a seam, fold again and like matching it begins to look like a bag. This pattern comes in two sizes. A big size to make a toiletry bag and a smaller version for a cosmetics bag. I made my version of a discarded jeans and dress shirt.

Chique Homemade basic Autumn dress

Youngest daughter and I went again to Holland Stoffenhuis in Leiden. I had a Elle Puls pattern that needed to be tested and had to buy suitable fabric. We always take a look in the remnant bin and youngest daughter found a piece of fabric with wybert pattern in ecru, black and gold. She’s very pleased with her Homemade basic T-shirt dress and asked me if the piece of fabric was enough to make another one. Lucky for her it was just enough. My February item for the Let’s Stick Together monthly challenge are potholders. We painted the kitchen during our Christmas holidays so a new set of potholders would be very welcome. I never made potholders. The potholders aren’t the only kitchen textiel items that came from under my sewing machine. I started looking for leftover fabrics to make them and found a large piece of red/white gingham. We have a red roller blind in our kitchen and this red/white gingham was the perfect match. Day&Night Dress Challenge 2018

Dresses are a major challenge for me. You only have to take a look at my Christmas party outfit for the ‘Designin December 2017’ entry to see that it’s far from looking like a dress. Casual and comfortabel to wear during Boxing day and the following days between Christmas and New Year. And yet I decided to take be one of the crew members again for the second time Day&Night Dress Challenge run by Elizabeth. I wear dresses on occasions like dinner parties, receptions, birthday parties or weddings. Two new dresses at the beginning of 2018 doesn’t sound that bad and I’ve two more to choose from. This year dress theme is coffee&cocktail.

A few days ago I was reading a SewingwithD blogpost about 100 Item Sewing Challenge 2017.  She found on Facebook a group called 100 Item Sewing Challenge. There are prizes to win and there are a few rules. You have to make at least 100 items in one year and also at least 8 items each month. Some of the other rules were smaller items like underwear counts 0.5, items sewn to sell don’t count and 50% has to be selfish sewing. She had an impressive list of 125 items. monthly sewing plans 2018

I wrote in my Round-up Bucket list 2017 that I was looking for another challenging bucket list 2018. On Instagram some sewists shared their #2018makenine sewing plans. I decided not to take part in this challenge because I find it hard to make at the beginning of a year sewing plans with patterns to use them throughout a year. Flaflinko came up with an idea that suited me more. She suggested to have a monthly sewing or blog related intention. My first idea was to let my monthly intention start with the first letter of that month.

Round-up Bucket list 2017

It’s almost 2018. I started this year with a bucket list of 15 items. How many items are completed after 365 days. Time for my Round-up Bucket list 2017. I start with the items that are still on the list. Traveling with a mobile home, eating french fries in Belgium in a so could ‘frietkot’ and using all the giftcards. That doesn’t sound too bad.

Two new homemade basic T-shirts

I’m a big fan of T-shirts. Comfortable to wear under a sweater but also in combination with a jacket or cardigan. I love wearing them because T-shirts are made of jersey fabric and stretch unlike blouses. You must’t think I’ve a lot T-shirts on my shelves. I’ve ten and some are bought and some are homemade. Sadly some of them were worn and faded. Time to replace them. I first looked in my stash to find some fabric and found some beautiful soft light grey jersey. I bought the second fabric in Leiden so I was ready to start maken my two new homemade basic T-shirts.

Black-White boucle short cardigan

Christmas is less then two weeks away and many of you are already making their party outfits or probably have finished it. I usually wear a jeans with a cardigan or jacket because someone has to to he cooking. I’ve my party outfit already finished but it’s part of the Let’s Sti(c)k Together blogtour. This blogtour is scheduled for next week and therefore I show my Black-White boucle short cardigan today. This cardigan was a lucky found and also a perfect match with my party outfit.

Zelfgemaakte portemonnee

De afgelopen twee jaar heb ik voor de familie van alles gemaakt voor Sinterklaas maar dit jaar schiet het er helaas bij in. Dergelijke presentjes maken kost veel voorbereiding. Het Kerstproject van afgelopen oktober erg leuk was om te doen maar nam veel tijd in beslag. Ondertussen is het december geworden en ben ik bezig om diverse zaken af te ronden. Eén daarvan is ‘verzoekjes en beloften’. Deze zelfgemaakte portemonnee is een vervolg op de Back2School Jeanius Lapjeskat potloden etui. Ik deed een soort van belofte/toezegging aan iemand die een commentaar achterliet bij de etui. Ik vertelde dat de kat nog een keer in een andere versie te zien zou zijn als cadeau voor Sint of Kerst. Sinterklaas nadert. Ben je nog op zoek naar een leuk idee om een kattenliefhebber te verrassen dan is deze zelfgemaakte portemonnee misschien wel een idee. Je maakt deze portemonnee in één avond.

Named Talvikki sweater versie 2

Het weer is ondertussen veranderd sinds dit T-shirt. Het is kouder, het regent en soms is er ook hagel. Sweater weather tijd dus. Ik haalde een lap wollen gebreide stof uit mijn voorraad die ik meer dan twee jaar geleden op een stoffenmarkt kocht. Deze zou 1.50 meter breed zijn maar bleek bij thuiskomst slechts 1.25 meter breed. Ik had een vierkante lap voor mij liggen waar ik mee aan de slag ging en koos de Named Talvikki sweater als patroon voor mijn Named Talvikki sweater versie 2. De Named Talvikki sweater patroon is onderdeel van de Named Evolution Theory collectie.

Misty’s Whimsies Fox called Cherry

Ik kwam tijdens mijn zoektocht naar zelfgemaakte nekkussens op internet dit gratis vos naaipatroon tegen. Misty Richardson is de ontwerpster van dit geweldige patroon. Ik maakte mijn Misty’s Whimsies Fox called Cherry van een oude sweater en wat andere restjes stof.

Het Misty Whimsie Fox patroon heeft toegevoegde naadwaarden. Dit patroon komt met een uitgebreide instructie maar ook goede illustraties voor als je meer van plaatjes houdt. Ik maakte slechts een kleine aanpassing op het patroon van de neus. Mijn neus is onderdeel de kop en kan daardoor niet loskomen van de kop. Ik denk dat het daardoor iets veiliger is in de handen van kleine kinderen.

Fashion Style nummer 1 lange blazer

Fashion Style is de Nederlandstalige versie van het Spaanse naaitijdschrift Patrones. Ik maakte al eerder het Massimo Dutti overhemd uit het eerste Nederlandstalige nummer. Meer dan een jaar geleden vertelde ik dat ik deze blazer zou gaan maken. Ik maakte inderdaad een start met mijn Fashion Style nummer 1 lange blazer al was het maar omdat ik nog een sewing dare uit had staan waarin uitgedaagd werd ‘to make some kind of jacket’.

Two Homemade Good Luck Pigs

Everyone probably had a piggy bank as a child. I had a small one but sadly enough I can’t find it bag. My piggy bank had a rubber plug. The rubber plug was replaced by a cork because after a few years the rubber plug was broken. I came up with the idea of making Two Homemade Good Luck Pigs after reading about the Swedish love for pigs at Christmas. For centuries pigs were held to preserve their flesh in the form of ham and sausage so families had meat during the Winter. This preserved meat was also served at Christmas and made the centrepiece of Christmas dinners.

Fox Travel Neck Pillow

I decided to make a car neck pillow in week 3 of this Oktober Homemade Christmas ideas. Most people will visit family and friends during these holidays and travel by car, airplane or train. Some like and can sleep during these hours and love to have a comfortable travel neck cushion but the neck pillow is also comfortable while reading. I had some off white teddy in my stash and wondering how to use that for a neck pillow. In my childhood time lots of elderly women were wearing small fur neck warmers. They were made of mink, weasel or a small fox. This gave me an idea to make an animal neck pillow. A fox caught my eye and the dark red fleece came form the leftover fabric stash. Now it was time to think about a pattern to make a Fox Travel Neck Pillow.

Autumn 2017 sewing plans

You can see in another todays bog post my version of the Mondsee scarf. September 1th is the beginning of the meteorological Autumn. There’s a gap of three weeks between the meteorological Autumn and the astronomical Autumn. At the beginning of this week we still had Summer weather. Lots of sunshine and high temperatures. But the weather changed dramatically on Wednesday. It was raining almost the whole day and temperatures dropped. The next day was also grey and cold. It felt like we had a taste of Autumn already. I decided to start thinking about clothes to make for the upcoming astronomical Autumn while wearing my Mondsee scraf. I now share some of my Autumn 2017 sewing plans.

I decided to take a look at patterns I all ready have due to my ‘Use What You Have’ mission. I’ve found at least two patterns I want to use. This jeans from a recent KNIPmode magazine and the RDC Gerard manteau. I’m still looking in my pattern stash for sewing patterns suitable for a cardigan, a sweater and a pattern to knit another scarf.

Homemade Easter Decorations

Homemade Easter Decorations is a sewing project using leftover fabrics and discarded clothes. I made the last years some Christmas decorations and decided to do the same for Easter. I found a lot of inspirations on Pinterest and decided to make some flowers, a bunny and a fabric egg.

Our youngest gave me a couple years back two long glass vases. They are standing a few years on our windowsill. I had already decided that I wanted to make some fabric flowers for them using leftover fabrics. I found some blue fabrics in my leftover stash and used this TNT pattern to make them. All fabrics are a kind of denim so this was a little bit harder to work with then the usual fabric. Two evenings later six tulips were standing in both vases.

Rabbit Fabric Morning Robe

Rabbit Fabric Morning Robe is made for our youngest daughter. She loves rabbits and a while ago I made two sleep shirts for her using rabbit fabric. I also made this crazy apron and this lovely cushion for her. She was in need for a new morning robe. I found some lovely blue rabbit fabric that felt soft and warm last year and seems to be perfect to make a new morning robe. Cotton and polyester is the base of this fabric combined with 4% Elasthan. The inside has fine soft alpine fleece. I finally had time to draft a pattern and started sewing.

Bucket list 2017 goal settings are my personal goal settings for 2017. In 2015 I made a bucket list too. I had 10 items on my bucket list and at the end of 2015 I had done 5 of them. One of them was starting my blog. Last December I decided to make a bucket list for 2017. During 2016 I had some personal ambitions that were still unfulfilled and I decided that I wanted to assign this open-ended goal settings.

10 afgeronde naaiprojecten voor 1 januari 2017 – het begin

10 afgeronde naaiprojecten voor 1 januari 2017 begon voor mij op 20 november. Ik heb een stoffenvoorraad die ook nog aangevuld is met afgedankte kleding. Uitdagingen om beide te verwerken zijn dan ook erg welkom. Het verhaal op dit blog bood mij weer eens een goede motivatie om de laatste 6 weken van 2016 met deze uitdaging te vullen. Sinds een paar jaar maak ik altijd het een en ander voor Sinterklaas. De belofte aan mijn echtgenoot om voor hem weer een paar T-shirts te maken stond ook nog. Ik had dus wel een paar naaiprojecten staan waar ik deze 10 afgeronde naaiprojecten voor 1 januari 2017 uitdaging mee kon invullen.

Sewing Happy X-mouse – Christmas decoration

Sewing Happy X-mouse is made for Christmas. I love sewing Christmas decoration. These three dolls are hanging since a few years for our window. Last year I made Chris Moose. A couple of days ago I was looking for inspiration for the Christmas Wreath I had planned to make. Then I came across a mouse dressed for Christmas and as a follow up on the word Chris Moose I found X-mouse a nice and funny idea. I went looking for a pattern that looked a bit like a rag doll.

Crewneck Sweater Burda 11_2015 112 – the crewneck sweater

Crewneck Sweater Burda 11_2015 112 is made of black fabric with velvet polkadots from my stash. I bought this fabric last year while I was in The Hague together with our eldest daughter. It will be Christmas within four weeks and I wanted to make something to wear on Boxing day. The dress for the first Christmas day is already hanging in my closet. Boxing day asks for a more comfortable wear and I decided that I wanted to make a top that I could wear with the trousers I had made at the beginning of this year. I also made a skirt of the same fabric so I can choose that day if I want to wear trousers or a skirt.

New year and good intentions

Just like many others I always start each new year with some good intentions. Last year I wrote my intentions down on a bucket list. It had ten items and four of them are done. Starting my website/blog was one of them, another one was sewing a Chanel jacket.

Ieder jaar begint met goede voornemens. Vorig jaar heb ik tien voornemens op een bucket list geschreven. Een website/blog starten was er een en een ander was een Chanel jacket maken.

Apple turnover for New Year’s Eve or Appelflap voor Oudjaar

the filingIn this Christmas pudding post I told you about the Chipolata pudding my father used to make. Another thing he used to make were apple turnovers for New Year’s Eve.

In dit verhaal over het Kerstmis dessert vertelde ik over de Chipolata pudding die mijn vader maakte. Naast dit dessert maakte hij ook altijd appelflappen met oudjaar.

Happy Chris Moose

5 stoelOn FoldLine someone showed Chris Moose and I decided to make it too. Chris Moose is a pattern from Sew Magazine. In my bag with leftover fabric I found some tweed fabric for the body parts, a piece of knitted fabric for the tail and ears, a piece of pink fleece for the inner ears and tartan fabric for the antlers and hoofs. The eyes are two brown horn buttons from my button box. 

Op FoldLine liet iemand Chris Moose zien en ik besloot er ook een te maken. Chris Moose is een patroon van Sew Magazine. In een tas met reststoffen vond ik tweed voor het lijf, een stuk gebreide stof voor de staart en oren, een stukje rose fleece voor de binnenkant van het oor en tartan voor het gewei en hoeven.

Growing hyacinths in a vase

ronde 2We, Dutch, have some famous products. In a few post I’ve mentioned already the tulips and herring. Every spring lots of tourists will visit the Netherlands to go to the bulb fields so they can look to look at all the flowers. Not only tourist love tulips and hyacinths.

Wij, Nederlanders, hebben een aantal zaken waar we bekend van zijn, zoals tulpen en haring. Elk voorjaar komen veel toeristen naar Nederland om de bollenvelden te bekijken als de bloemen in bloei staan. Niet alleen toeristen houden van tulpen en hyacinten.
