Je kunt natuurlijk altijd de winkel inrennen om kerstversiering te kopen maar ook kun je zelf aan de slag gaan. Deze Bee Sew Inspired Gnomette Doll is een leuk voorbeeld van een zelfgemaakte kerstversiering. Als je een middagje over hebt en wat restanten dan staat deze Gnomette Doll vanavond all tussen de andere versieringen.
You can always go to a shop to buy Christmas decorations but making them is much more fun. The Bee Sew Inspired Gnomette Doll is a good example of a homemade Christmas decoration. You only need one afternoon and some leftover fabrics to make this fun doll.
Aan de slag
Dit patroon bestaat zowel uit een Gnoom als een Gnomette versie. Ik koos voor de Gnomette versie 10 inch, ongeveer 25 centimeter.
Eerste stap is het goed lezen van de instructies en vervolgens de materialen bij elkaar te zoeken. Ik leg vervolgens de gevonden materialen op zijn plek volgens het patroon. Zo kun je een beeld vormen hoe het er uiteindelijk uit gaat zien.
Omdat ik vooral dichtbij een kerstsfeer wilde blijven viel de keuze op rood, groen en wit. Zo is het ‘jurkje’ van rode kerststof. De puntmuts van witte nep bont en de laarsjes van groen nepleer.
Making an arrangement
You can make besides a Gnomette also a Gnoom with this pattern. I chose for the Gnomette 10 inches about 25 centimetres.
First step is reading the instructions and after that looking for fabrics. I then arrange the fabrics as I want to use them for all the different pieces. By doing so I can picture how the finished doll is going to look like.
After a few arrangement my choice was made. Red fabric with a Christmas design for the ‘dress’. The apron of white embroidery fabric with a lace trim. The hat from white fake fur and finally the boots from a piece of green fake leather.
Van idee naar voltooide Gnomette
Nu de keuze was gemaakt werden alle onderdelen uit stof geknipt. Tijdens het knippen ontstond het idee om de ‘handjes’ in wanten te steken van groen nepleer. Ook kregen de laarsjes een bontrandje in plaats van de gespsluiting. De platte opgestikte neus is vervangen door een opgevulde neus.
Je knipt hiervoor eerst een iets ovale rondje. Vervolgens met kleine rijgsteekjes langs de buitenrand, vulling erin, rijgdraad aantrekken en vastzetten op het hoofd. Na het opvullen van de ledematen stik je de voor- en achterkant aan elkaar. Als ook het lijf is opgevuld rest alleen nog het met de hand dicht maken van het keergat.
Sewing the Bee Sew Inspired Gnomette Doll together
Now that the fabric selection was made it was time to cut out all the pattern pieces. During the cutting I came up with the idea to give the illusion that Gnomette is wearing mits. The boots have a fur trim instead of the embellishments. I gave Gnomette a more realistic nose instead of the flat stitched on nose. You start with a more or less oval shaped piece of fabric.
Make small basting stitches around the edge and add some stuffing. Pull the thread so that the nose is closed and stitch it on the head. Legs and arms are stuffed and sewed with a tack down stitch on the body. You now sew the front and back body together leaving a small opening at the bottom for turning. After the body is stuffed the last step is closing the the opening with a ladder stitch.
Mijn Gnomette Doll
Zoals met alle Bee Sew inspired patronen kun je ook met dit patroon naar mijn mening vele kanten op. Door mijn gnoom laarsjes met een bontrandje, wantjes en een opgevulde neus te geven ontstond een geheel eigen versie. Ondertussen speel ik in gedachte al met een andere versie. Deze Gnomette zal straks naast de Oh Gnome You Didn’t een plaatsje krijgen.
Just like all the Bee Sew Inspired patterns you easily can make your own version. I gave my version boots with a fur trim, mits and a realistic nose but I already see other possibilities. This Gnomette will soon sit next to my Oh Gnome You Didn’t.

Goeiemorgen,leuk om een andere gnome te ontdekken dan de gnomes die ikzélf genaaid heb. De vlechtjes en het bondrandje langs de laarsjes zijn een mooi detail. En jouw kersthoekje is helemaal af !
Benieuwd of jij ook gesakkerd hebt om de benen gevuld te krijgen. De benen van mijn gnomes zijn iets langer en iets smaller en gelukkig heb ik van die prym tools om de vulling in te brengen.
Het is inderdaad een andere gnome dan de bekende. Ik vind het bedenken van de details altijd het leukste aan dit soort projecten. Door het neobont te gebruiken voor de muts en als randje langs de laarzen maar ook de meer realistische neus verdwijnt een beetje het platte effect dat het anders gekregen zou hebben. Ik gebruik voor het opvullen een lange (medische) pincet of een hemostat. De Prym tools ken ik niet maar daar ga ik naar op zoek.
