Husband cleared out his wardrobe three weeks ago and decided to let some of his well worn poloshirts go. They had seen better days. So time for me to make some new. Suitable fabric for men isn’t easy to find.
I saw a while ago on the Sikkes IG-account a few striped jersey fabrics. One looked perfect to use for a new poloshirt. I hopped on my bike two weeks ago to take a look in the shop.

Megan Blue Fabrics
Megan Blue Fabrics is in 2015 introduced by Burtex. They have cotton-lycra’s, jogging fabric, digital prints but also prints with gold and silver goud glitter. The collection looks great and most fabrics are suitable for kids although a few can also be used for adults as well.
I did a search on the internet and found out tata the price range of the fabrics are between € 12,00 and € 16,00. My blue striped fabric is a 95% cotton and 5% elastan jersey and has some firmness but also a nice stretch.

Zonen09 poloshirt pattern
TNT patterns never fail so I used the Zonen09 Theo overhemd poloshirt version. The Megan Blue striped fabric has a plane blue wrong side and perfect to use as contrast fabric. The under collar is from striped fabric.
I used the locker and coverlock to sew the poloshirt together. The seam allowances of the collar is finished with a striped homemade bias band..

Time and Costs
Time: cutting 30 minutes; basting, stitching and finishing 9 hours
Costs: fabric € 12,95: yarn € 3,50: buttons € 1,00

Husband and his new Megan Blue Fabrics Heren Poloshirt
Husband is very pleased with his new poloshirt. This Megan Blue Fabrics Male Poloshirt fits perfect and is a pleasure to wear. He loves the added breast pocket and the under collar with a twist however there’s only one but.

The fabric is too dark in his opinion. He prefers next time lighter fabrics with bright colours and no stripes.
I take him next time to go on a fabric hunt so he can pick his own fabrics. Next week I show you my contribution in a blog tour.
Beautiful polo shirts Sonja, it’s a shame your husband thinks the fabric is a bit dark, but I’m sure you’ll find some suitable fabrics next time.
Thank you so much Sue. It’s growing on him after both our daughters fold him that the polo looked great. I’me looking forward to go fabric shopping with him and see what his choice is going to be. I also saw that you’ve been some fabric shopping too during your stay in England.
