Ice Blue Coloured Named Talvikki Sweater is made from the newest Named pattern collection called Evolution Theory. The Talvikki seater has a dropped shoulder line and a turtleneck. Both are the Autumn and Winter season fashion items for 2016/2017. The darts in the neckline are an interesting feature in this design and therefore this pattern looks different then regular sweater patterns. I ordered the PDF version and after receiving the email the pattern was available for download. The pattern is in a layered PDF file which means that all of the sizes are stacked on top of each other on the different layers. I printed 32/34 which is the smallest size. I bought this fabric special for this pattern because I hadn’t any suitable in my stash. This tricot circle fabric has 3% elastan which is enough stretch for the turtleneck. I’ve chosen this lovely ice blue color.

Ice Blue Coloured Named Talvikki Sweater – the changes I’ve made

I decided to make some changes before cutting. The sleeves are made shorter due to the fact if I roll them up I end with a thick layer of fabrics at my wrist. I also made the vents shorter. All my seams are flat seams. I decided to use flat seams for the same reason as making the sleeves shorter. For that reason I’ve changed the seam allowances and made it into 1.5 cm. The corners of the hem were done with a mitered corner. I find that this type of making a corner gives a much nicer finish and makes the corners also less bulky.

The pattern comes with a good description with lots of illustrations. The fabric was easy to sew besides for the darts. The circles in the fabric are created by using a very thin layer of wadding between the wright and wrong side of the fabric. I carefully basted the darts to get them crisp and sharp by sewing over the circles as straight as I could. I used the overlocker to finish the seam allowances using the same thread combination that I used for the chino. A label is added to the back neckline using red thread.

The Talvikki Sweater looks great and is a pleasure to wear. It’s a great addition to my wardrobe and looks great on several jeans and trousers. I’m pleased with my color choice for the Talvikki Sweater. Named is a Finnish brand and the Scandinavian countries are famous for their neutral colors like the pale blues. Although it has a casual look the darts give the Talvikki Sweater a good fit. The Talvikki Sweater therefore becomes from an easy comfortable and casual sweater into a stylish feminien looking sweater. You can wear this sweater without looking coming directly from the gym. This sweater can easily be worn on casual Friday but also on a birthday party with some friends.

Ice Blue Coloured Named Talvikki Sweater is gemaakt van de nieuwste Named patroon collectie  Evolution Theory. De Talvikki seater heeft afhangende schouders en een turtleneck. Beide zijn fashion items in 2016. De figuurnaden in de halslijn geven het patroon een interessante look waardoor dit patroon net even anders is dan de reguliere sweater. Ik bestelde de PDF versie en na de bevestigingsmail kon alles worden gedownload. Het patroon wordt geleverd als eenlayered PDF file waardoor elke maat afzonderlijk te printen is. Ik printte 32/34 wat de kleinste maat is. Ik kocht de stof speciaal voor dit patroon omdat ik niets geschikts had in mijn voorraas stoffen. Deze tricot circle stof heeft 3% elastan wat precies genoeg rek geeft voor de turtleneck. Ik koos deze prachtige ice blue kleur.

Ice Blue Coloured Named Talvikki Sweater – mijn veranderingen aan het patroon

Ik besloot een en ander te veranderen voordat ik ging knippen. De mouwen maakte ik korter omdat als ik ze oprol ik een paar lagen stof aan mijn polsen zou hebben. De splitten zijn ook ingekort. Al mijn naden zijn plat om dezelfde reden als bij de mouwen. Hierdoor heb ik ook de naadtoeslagen verandert in 1.5 cm. De hoeken bij de zoom zijn in verstek (45°) genaaid. Ik vind deze afwerking mooier en het zorgt er ook voor dat je niet teveel dikke lagen hebt in de hoeken.

Het patroon heeft een prima beschrijving met veel plaatjes. De stof was makkelijk te verweken op de figuurnaden na. Om de cirkels in de stof te maken zit er een ultradun laagje wattine tussen de goede en verkeerde kant van de stof. Ik reeg dan ook de figuurnaden zorgvuldig door ervoor te zorgen dat de stof steeds goed lag zodat ik goed over de cirkels kon naaien. Ik gebruikte de overlock om de naden af te werken in dezelfde kleurencombinatie als voor de chino. Een label is achter in turtleneck genaaid met rood garen.

De Talvikki Sweater bevalt prima. Het is een geweldige toevoeging aan mijn wardrobe en past goed bij de diverse jeans en broeken. Ik ben erg in mijn nopjes met mijn kleurkeuze. Named is een Finse merk en de Scandinavische landen staan bekend om hun neutrale kleurpaletten zoals het zachte blauw. Ofschoon de Talvikki Sweater casual oogt zorgen de figuurnaden voor een goede pasvorm. De Talvikki Sweater verandert hierdoor van een comfortabele en casual sweater in een stijlvol vrouwelijk ogende sweater. Deze sweater laat je er niet uitzien of je direct van de sportschool komt waardoor deze sweater prima te dragen is op casual Friday maar ook naar een simpele verjaardagsfeestje met vriendinnen.
