His Boxershort versus her Tunnel Scarf

His Boxershort versus her Tunnel Scarf are both made of leftover fabric. The main fabric for the tunnel scarf came from the ethnic print cut in sleeve top. The boxershort is made entirely made of the main fabric. My husband still wasn’t happy with the finishing of the waistband. After cutting the top I had enough length left to sew a boxershort for my husband. Perfect to make a third version. The off cuts of the main fabric were used to make an other tunnel scarf. I also found some scraps left of the black yoke top and my red cocktail dress. Both matched really beautiful with the main fabric and therefore could be used too.

Making the Boxershort and the Tunnel Scarf

The boxershort is made with my self drafted boxershort pattern. I decided to use 3 cm wide elastic. The elastic is inserted in a 3,2 cm wide tunnel. The boxershort was easy to make. This is the third time that I’m making them  and therefore I’ve some routine in sewing the boxershort together. The red button was found in my button box. The tunnel scarf was fun to make. I’m wearing often a scarf even when it’s summer. The scarf will protect my neck from sunburn when I’m cycling or walking. This scarf is made of different sizes of stripes of fabric and sewn random horizontal and vertical together. I used the Sashiko stitch technique again to mark the vertical stitching lines using thread in the colors red, white, black and gold. The black pom pom ribbon trim around one side of the tunnel is the same as in this make. The scarf matches perfect with the black yoke top, this refashion top and also with the nautical top.

What comes after His Boxershort versus her Tunnel Scarf

My husband is really pleased with this boxershort version and therefore he asked me to make him a few more. We soon will be buying some new fabric so I can sew them for him. The tunnel scarf is also a great addition to my growing scarf collection. The only thing I’ve on my wish list is perhaps making a plain red jersey top. I know already which pattern I want to use for it. The Etnic Top, the boxershort and the tunnel will also be my contribution for the August Challenge of The Monthly Stitch.

His Boxershort versus her Tunnel Scarf zijn beide gemaakt van restsof. Het merendeel van de stof komt van deze kimonomouw top met etnische print. De boxershort is uitsluitend gemaakt van deze stof. Mijn echtgenoot was nog steeds niet helemaal tevreden met de tailleband. Na het knippen van de top was er nog genoeg stof over om een nieuwe versie van de boxershort te maken. De resten van de stof zijn gebruikt om nog een tunnel scarf te maken. Ik had nog wat restjes liggen van de black yoke top en mijn red cocktail dress. Ik besloot deze ook te gebruiken.

Het maken van de boxershort en tunnel scarf

De boxershort is gemaakt van dit patroon. Ik gebruikte 3 cm breed elastiek in een 3,2 cm brede tunnel. De boxershort zat zo in elkaar. Ik begin al aardig wat routine te krijgen om de boxershorts te maken. De rode knoop komt uit mijn knopendoos. De tunnel scarf was leuk om te maken. Ik draag vaak een sjaal ook als het zomer is. Een sjaal beschermt mijn nek tegen verbranding tijdens het fietsen en wandelen. Deze scarf is gemaakt met stroken van diverse afmetingen die willekeurig horizontaal en verticaal in elkaar gezet zijn. Ik gebruikte de Sashiko steek techniek again om de verticale lijnen de benadrukken door rode, witte, zwarte en goud kleurig garen te gebruiken. De zwarte pom pom band langs een kant is hetzelfde als in deze scarf. De scarf gaat goed samen met de black yoke top, deze refashion top maar ook met de nautical top.

Wat wordt het volgende project?

Mijn echtgenoot is helemaal blij met deze versie van de boxershort versie. Hij heeft mij dan ook  gevraagd om er nog een paar te maken. Binnenkort gaan we samen op stap om hiervoor stof te kopen. De tunnel scarf is weer een prima toevoeging aan mijn alsmaar groeiende sjaal collectie. Het enige wat ik er misschien graag bij wil maken is een rode jersey top. Het patroon zit al in mijn hoofd. Alle drie projecten van de Etnic Fabric zijn ook mijn bijdrage voor de augustus uitdaging van The Monthly Stitch.
