Day and Night Dress Challenge – the invitation
Day and Night Dress Challenge is an initiative of the lovely Elizabeth from the blog Elizabeth made this. She asked me if I wanted to be a participant in the Day and Night Dress Challenge blogt our. I felt honoured and decided to join the challenge.
Day and Night Dress Challenge – my contribution
What will I make? That will be a secret for a while. One thing I can tell you already. I will be using one pattern to make both dresses. I’ve a few patterns that would be very useful for this challenge and I love making alterations to patterns to turn a garment into my style. The day dress is a real challenge for me because I hardly wear them. The night dress has to be a LBD and lucky me: LBD are my favourites. Elizabeth on the other hand has no LBD but want one when because she wants to get back into performing with her violin.
Faux leather detailed pencil skirt – the history
Faux leather detailed pencil skirt is made during a sewing challenge. I decided to make a monochroom black-white outfit. There was some fabric left from this make but I hadn’t enough wide left to make the seam allowances for the skirt. I decided to add some faux black leather fabric bought for this make that also has some stretch. The faux leather stripes are 4 cm wide. This size gives the best outcome in balance between the skirt and the faux leather detail. When I showed the pencil skirt to the other contestants I had requests to share how I made it. Recently I wore the pencil skirt with my crewneck top. A few were interested if I had made the skirt and also wanted if so how it’s done. So here we go.
Sewing Sinterklaas gifts 2016 – the idea
Sewing Sinterklaas gifts 2016 are made of discarded clothes and small pieces of leftover fabric. In the previous post I already showed the jeanius laptop cover made of a discarded jeans for our youngest daughter. These other two makes are for my husband and our eldest daughter.
Jeanius Laptop Cover – the idea
Jeanius Laptop Cover is made for our youngest daughter. She recently bought a new laptop that was a little bit smaller then her previous one. Time for a new laptop cover. I already told in this post that I want to reuse discarded clothes to make the homemade Sinterklaas gifts. I still had some parts left of a jeans that used to be worn by her. After some careful planning I had an idea how to cut it but also how I could use some other parts of the jeans like the coin pocket and belt loops.
Crewneck Sweater Burda 11_2015 112 – the crewneck sweater
Crewneck Sweater Burda 11_2015 112 is made of black fabric with velvet polkadots from my stash. I bought this fabric last year while I was in The Hague together with our eldest daughter. It will be Christmas within four weeks and I wanted to make something to wear on Boxing day. The dress for the first Christmas day is already hanging in my closet. Boxing day asks for a more comfortable wear and I decided that I wanted to make a top that I could wear with the trousers I had made at the beginning of this year. I also made a skirt of the same fabric so I can choose that day if I want to wear trousers or a skirt.
Happy Saturday Evening Family Meal – the tomato soup
Happy Saturday Evening Family Meal started with tomato soup. Both our daughters decided to were home this weekend so we had a kind of family meal together. Our daughters love a cup of soup and a favourite is homemade tomato soup with meatballs. I started baking two onions and after they were caramelised I added four grated cloves of garlic. As soon as the garlic was coloured I added one big tablespoon of flower and after two minutes three liter of vegetable stock was added. Then a a tin chopped tomatoes, a 500 ml a pack of tomato pulp and a large ton of tomato paste was added. The soup was almost ready after a good stir. Now I had to make some meatballs. I decided to spice the meatballs with sweet chilisaus. The tomato soup was served with two sweet pointed peppers cut into small slices.
LMV Aster Trui – the pattern
LMV Aster Trui is a pattern from LMV 3-2016. A while ago I made the LMV Martini dress. One of the most popular patterns if not the most popular is the Aster Trui. LMV Aster Trui is a comfortable sweater that is easy peasy to sew. A great pattern for a beginner. The neckline with the collar is the interesting part of this pattern and the eyecatcher of the LMV Aster Trui. For that reason I decided to make one. The finishing of the neckline is the stumbling block of this pattern. There’s much written about the finishing of the neckline and what could be the best way to make it. In addition there’s also to the limited length of the body and the sleeves. Most sewers have lengthen the body. I decided to play with the pattern.
Pink Gingham Dress – The seamstress tag
Pink Gingham Dress and the seamstress tag what have they in common? The seamstress tag was started by Hollie from Hollie Sews. The seamstress tag has twelve questions to answer. Two of them are When & why did you start sewing and What is your favourite or proudest make? After reading a few blogs and watching a couple of vlogs I decided to do something with these two questions. I can’t remember when I started sewing even my mother couldn’t tell when I asked her a couple of weeks ago. The second part of the question the why is because I enjoy it and it’s a good way to relax. My favourite or proudest make? Every sewing item is carefully planned and I’m proud of every make. This Pink Gingham Dress is the oldest proof of my sewing activities. So here is the story behind the Pink Gingham Dress.
BFL 2016 Zorgenvriendje – tweede versie

‘Vrijdag’ verscheen in datzelfde jaar. Ze produceert aardig wat werk. Tot nu toe staat de teller op twintig thrillers, een roman, drie bundels met korte verhalen en drie novelles. Dit boekje vond ik bij Dorcas, een goede doelen winkel.
