IMG_0953 x omKnitted wraps are really pleasant to have and to wear. Even in the summer they can be of great use when it’s getting colder in the evening. In the winter they are cozy and comfy: something to hide in while sitting on the bench reading a book.

My knitted wraps

Over the last couple of years I’ve started a few if this type of shawls in all kind of color combinations. The most of them ended in the closet as UFO’s. The mean reason is how to finish the sides of these wraps. At the beginning of this year I started finishing them. The first was the Keffiyeh wrap. Knitting the pattern calls for patience, but it was worth it. Next was the Into the Groove. It’s a hack from a free pattern by Stephen West. The last one that had to be finished was the Me + You or You + Me. This is a pattern from Erica Jackofsky. After many attempts to finish the sides I ended up doing an I-cord all around the scarf. Then I began finishing what I thought was be my last UFO: The Shadow of Inspirations

Mijn omslagdoeken collectie

Als laatste The Shadow of Inspirations.

The Camus wrap

IMG_2443 rechte kantIn this UFO knitting projects post I already told the reality was different. In a bag I found just two other still not finished projects. The first one was this red cabled cowl tunnel scarf. The motivation to finish the of both them that was a change of weather and it was turning cold. The Camus is a plaid wrap by Norah Gaughan and is actually very easy to knit. It just are rows of different colors in single jersey and on several places making stripes by knitting a purl stitch on the front and a plain stitch on the back. The stripes to form the plaid affect are waved in with a contrasting color of yarn and at both ends they are tied together to make tassels. The warp can be worn on both sides because the contrasting yarn can be seen on each side. For that reason I really wanted a neat finish. On the small sides the wrap has a single crocheted row and the long sides are finished with stockinette stitch hem of four rows. The finished warp has seven repeats of the pattern and is 65 by 120 cm after blocking.

The finished Camus Wrap

Conclusion: This wrap combines very well with all my denim jeans. It’s soft, light and easy to warp around the shoulders. A nice shawl pin will keep it beautiful in place.

  1. What a gorgeous wrap! I love wraps too, especially for aircraft travel because I can just fold myself into it and stay warm! I have never knitted a plaid wrap though, which is intriguing.
