homemade red/white gingham kitchen textiel

My February item for the Let’s Stick Together monthly challenge are potholders. We painted the kitchen during our Christmas holidays so a new set of potholders would be very welcome. I never made potholders. The potholders aren’t the only kitchen textiel items that came from under my sewing machine. I started looking for leftover fabrics to make them and found a large piece of red/white gingham. We have a red roller blind in our kitchen and this red/white gingham was the perfect match. You want to know what I made besides the red/white gingham pot

holders? Keep reading and find you more about my homemade red/white gingham kitchen textiel items.

Visiting Stoffenspektakel plus Stoffenbeurs Spring 2018

Last week two big fabric markets were held in my neighbourhood. The Stoffenspektakel in the Haarlemmermeer and the Stoffenbeurs in Haarlem. Both fabric markets are held twice a year and visit all kinds of places in the Netherlands but also in Belgium and France. I always attend both markets because a few fabric shop owners are present at both markets. This time I wanted to buy some fabric for my mother and husband because I’ve planned for both them projects in my Let’s Stick Together Monthly Challenge. In this blogpost I give you an impression of both markets but I also show the fabrics I bought during my Visiting Stoffenspektakel plus Stoffenbeurs Spring 2018.

one pattern two dresses Day&Night Dress challenge 2018

Just like last year I used one pattern for both my Day&Night dresses. I gave a sneak peak of both designs on Instagram but also my fabrics choices for both dresses in this Day&Night Dress Challenge 2018 fabric choice blogpost. Both dresses are made of a self drafted T-shirt pattern that was altered into a dress pattern. Lots of designers have clothes with and asymmetrical look. This look is one of the 2018 style features. I decided to incorporate this feature in both my dresses. Time to reveal both my dresses and show you more of my coffee dress and cocktail dress.

Day&Night Dress Challenge 2018 fabric

I told in my Day&Night Dress challenge 2018 post about having a pattern for my coffee date dress. Sadly the toile was a nightmare. Wrong pattern, no suitable fabric, a combination of both or just not my pattern? I’ve no idea. Time was not on my sight so perhaps making a Day&Night Dress Challenge 2018 fabric choice for my toffe date dress would be an idea to help me out. The fabric for my coffee date dress came from stash. I made a sketch last Friday according to my ‘the different sides of a fabric’ theme. This is the rough sketch. Horizontal and vertical lines are dividing the dress into two parts and giving the dress an asymmetrical look.

Seven House Toaster Sweater #2

I started with my version of the Seven House Toaster Sweater #2 after having contact with Ann. We both had the same reaction when we almost simultaneously published a blogpost about our last finished sweaters. Ann made a version of the Seven House Toaster Sweater #2 and I the Named Talvikki sweater. We saw each other sweaters and were wondering how bog the difference is between both designs. Ann and I wrote to each other and we decided to make the other design as well and write a blogpost about the other make as well to share our experiences and thoughts about the other design.

Day&Night Dress Challenge 2018

Dresses are a major challenge for me. You only have to take a look at my Christmas party outfit for the ‘Designin December 2017’ entry to see that it’s far from looking like a dress. Casual and comfortabel to wear during Boxing day and the following days between Christmas and New Year. And yet I decided to take be one of the crew members again for the second time Day&Night Dress Challenge run by Elizabeth. I wear dresses on occasions like dinner parties, receptions, birthday parties or weddings. Two new dresses at the beginning of 2018 doesn’t sound that bad and I’ve two more to choose from. This year dress theme is coffee&cocktail.

overview homemade items 2017

A few days ago I was reading a SewingwithD blogpost about 100 Item Sewing Challenge 2017.  She found on Facebook a group called 100 Item Sewing Challenge. There are prizes to win and there are a few rules. You have to make at least 100 items in one year and also at least 8 items each month. Some of the other rules were smaller items like underwear counts 0.5, items sewn to sell don’t count and 50% has to be selfish sewing. She had an impressive list of 125 items. I was wondering how many items I made. Here is my overview homemade items 2017.
