When I visited the Stoffenspektakel I was also looking for some fabrics for my mother. She wanted a new cardigan and sweater. It’s always a bit tricky buying fabric for someone else with a few indications. She wanted no back or grey but red, mustard yellow or green. My first purchase for her was a kind of jeans coloured fabric with a with a low relief bubble texture. Perfect for the cardigan. I also started looking for possible patterns in sewing magazines but also did a search on the internet. The Pruella Cardigan jOne looked something my mother would like and after looking at all the patterns she decided to go for the jOne.
Youngest daughter and I went again to Holland Stoffenhuis in Leiden. I had a Elle Puls pattern that needed to be tested and had to buy suitable fabric. We always take a look in the remnant bin and youngest daughter found a piece of fabric with wybert pattern in ecru, black and gold. She’s very pleased with her Homemade basic T-shirt dress and asked me if the piece of fabric was enough to make another one. Lucky for her it was just enough. So now we had both a suitable fabric and after paying we went back home.
After a long and sometimes hot summer Autumn is peeping around the corner. Now the Summer is coming to an end in the northern hemisphere and days are slowly getting shorter so evening and nights are slowly getting longer. Sometimes September but also October can bring some nice, warm days. So I made a Zonen09 Theo overhemd poloshirt version for the ‘Sew Long Summer 2018’ Blog Tour.
Our youngest daughter asked me a while ago if I could make a gift for het sister in law who was expecting her second child. Her sister in law is always admiring the clothes I made for my daughter. Flattered by this words so obviously I couldn’t refuse her request. The parents already knew it was going to be a boy again. Our youngest daughter had no suggestions so I started looking for inspiration. And then I saw this giant sloth on Instagram tegen een luiaard aan in de vorm van een knuffeldoek. I already had this pattern because I came across it while I was looking for patterns to make a soft toy sloth. After printing and finding fabrics I could start making it. Finally I ended making Two homemade babyshower gifts.
This Burdastyle 2018-02 #128 3/4 Sleeve Blouse is made of a pattern from the Burda Plus Size collection. This pattern was also released in the February edition of the Burda Style magazine. I bought this magazine to make this blouse for my mother. My mother had asked me to make a relax fitted blouse out of striped fabric. Sadly enough my previous bought fabric had a higher shrinkage percentage then I expected. New fabric was found at A.Boeken in Amsterdam where I also bought the fabric to make the LMV Aspen poloshirt. This is a 100% cotton striped fabric.
My husband is this time the subject of my sewing projects. I made for him a striped version of the LaMaisonVictor Aspen poloshirt. The LaMaisonVictor Aspen poloshirt is the third time that I’m using the LMV May/June2018 edition. It doesn’t happen often that I use a sewing magazine three times but this edition really had some great designs I could use. My LMV Malmö broek was worn at least once a week since I made it and also once in combination with the LMV Oslo blouse. A while ago I also made a poloshirt for my husband that he likes to wear. I decided not to use that pattern again but make this LMV version because my husband like the fit of his LMV Cliff hemd and LMV Bernie hemd.
Our youngest daughter and I went a while ago to Holland Stoffenhuis in Leiden. I was looking for lining for my Fashion Style blazer. They hadn’t the lining I was looking for but our daughter found a coupon that was 1.40 meter long that she liked. She asked me if I could make a SummerHomemade basic T-shirt dress out of it with an exposed zipper. She has a few of this dress types in het wardrobe that she loves to wear.Who can refuse such a request? Not me so after paying the coupon it was in her bag.
After making the Easy to Sew Vogue 9080 blouse this time a T-shirt for my mother. This fabrics is also bought while I visited the Stoffenspektakel in February. This time I carefully measured the sizes of my mother after the failure that I had with the Vogue blouse. I had to do some pattern alterations like a rounded back alterations. I decided to draft a pattern instead of doing the alterations on a commercial sewing pattern. It would probably take the same amount of time.
I decided to give this May month a kind of mother theme. My previous make was this 80s Easy to Sew Vogue 9010 blouse for my mother. Daughter sews something for her mother. This time I made something for my daughter. Mother makes clothes for her daughter. These two new homemade pencil skirts are made of this pencil skirt pattern.
My mother loved my ice blue coloured Named Talvikki Sweater and she asked me if I could also make the sweater for her. I started looking for fabric while in Antwerp and found a beautiful light grey Ponte di Roma with a black swirl design. This Named Talvikki sweater third version is made in size 40/42.
