Great British Sewing Bee

Great British Sewing Bee is back at BBC2. Claudia Winkelman is still the host and Patrick Grant one of the judges and May Martin is replaced by Esme Young. Each serie has a book and this year the title is ‘From Stitch to Style’. From the book belonging to third serie I made the Drapey Knit Dress. I’ve watched the trailer and I’m looking forward to see this serie too. Yesterday started the first episode with ten contestants and three of them are male. Sadly at the end of this first round after showing their skills on basic garment construction one of the guys had to go.

KNIPster 2016 Fabric selection theme 6

KNIPster 2016 Fabric selection theme 6 is a preview for my sixth and final make in the KNIPster sewing award 2016 by KNIPmode. The KNIPster 2016 Fabric selection theme 6 are both Nooteboom fabrics. The fabrics in the fabric selection theme 6 are made of cotton and jersey fabrics. You can start guessing what theme 6 is and still can guess what the theme for project 3, 4 and 5 is.

KNIPster 2016 Fabric selection theme 6 is mijn stof keuze voor het zesde en laatste thema  in KNIPster 2016 wedstrijd van KNIPmode. De stoffen zijn ook deze keer van Nooteboom en zijn een kant en jersey. Vanaf nu kun je gaan raden wat thema 6 is en ook nog steeds voor thema 3, 4 en 5.

Black White MixMatch Trio

Black White TrioBlack White MixMatch Trio is my first contribution for the KNIPster 2016 award run by the Dutch sewing magazine KNIPmode. We were asked to make an outfit using only black and white. Black and white are a classical color combination: a strong duo that never fails. Today is the kick off: the lines are open for voting for theme 1. You can vote here.

Black White MixMatch Trio is mijn first eerste bijdrage voor de verkiezing tot KNIPster 2016 een wedstrijd van KNIPmode. Onze eerste opdracht was een outfit te maken met uitsluitend zwart en wit. Zwart en wit is een klassieke, ijzersterk kleur combinatie. Vandaag is de kick-off: er kan gestemd gaan worden voor thema 1. Hier kun je stemmen.

KNIPster sewing award 2016 Theme 1

KNIPster sewing award 2016 Theme 1Theme 1 will be released tomorrow and the voting starts at KNIPmode and KNIPmode Facebook for the KNIPster 2016 award. A few days ago KNIPmode made it public that Black and White was the subject for theme 1. Tomorrow you can read my story on my  blog and I will add the links to the place where one can vote. Are you interested in an inside story? Watch our ‘vlog’. Sadly mine isn’t added yet, but will be added during this day and can be seen here.

Vanaf morgen kan er op KNIPmode en op KNIPmode Facebook gestemd worden op thema 1 voor KNIPster 2016. Inmiddels heeft KNIPmode ook het onderwerp van thema 1 bekend gemaakt: Black and White. Morgen kunnen jullie ook op mijn blog het verhaal lezen met een verwijzing naar de stemplekken. Wil je horen hoe iedereen het gemaakt heeft? We hebben een ‘vlog’ bijgehouden. Die van mij staat er (helaas) nog niet bij, maar hier kun je ze bekijken.

KNIPster sewing award 2016 is official announced in the KNIPmode April 2016. This magazine was delivered today by post for those who subscribed to this magazine. On page 3 all eight participants are shown and I’m one of them.

Bij het verschijnen van de KNIPmode April 2016 is de KNIPster wedstrijd 2016 officieel van start gegaan. Vandaag kregen de abonnees het blad in de bus. Op pagina 3 zijn de 8 deelnemers zichtbaar.

Fabric selection theme 1 is a preview for my first make in the KNIPster sewing award 2016 by KNIPmode. These are all Nooteboom fabrics. The fabrics are made of cotton with stretch. Stay tuned in my next post I will have some great news for you all.

Does it ring bell? I don’t think so. Last weekend was a crazy. It all started a week ago when I received an email from KNIPmode that I was selected for the KNIPster competition 2016. The competition concerns making each week an outfit matching a theme.

KNIPster sewing ambitions als titel voor een bericht. Wat zegt dat? Het was een waansnit weekend. Het begon allemaal met een mail van de KNIPmode dat ik geselecteerd was voor de KNIPster naaiwedstrijd 2016.

Het Spaarne – Spring Race

The Royal Rowing and Sailing Club “Het Spaarne” organizes each year the Spring Race. It is a time race over 4.5 kilometers starting from De Ringvaart and ends at the boathouse from Het Spaarne. This year I was asked by a male team to be become there cox to steer their eight for this race. Normally I prefer rowing, but sometimes I do something outside of my own sporting experience and comfort-zone.

Elk jaar organiseert De Koninklijke Roei- en Zeilvereniging Het Spaarne de Lenterace. Het is een tijdwedstrijd over 4,5 kilometer die begint op de Ringvaart en eindigt voor het botenhuis van Het Spaarne. Dit jaar ben ik gevraagd door een mannenploeg om hun acht te sturen. Normaal gesproken roei ik liever, maar zo’n enkele keer wil ik wel eens iets doen wat buiten mijn eigen sportbeleving is.
