Youngest daughter and I really liked the Misusu Patterns Doris skirt as soon as we both saw it on the Instagram.
Youngest daughter and I also go so now and then on a fabric hunt. She found some faux leather at Holland Stoffenhuis best to be described as a petrol colour. The fabric has some stretch. She asked me if it was suitable enough for a pencil skirt.
The pencil skirt wasn’t made so she asked me if it could be used for a Faux leather Misusu Doris skirt version.

Faux leather Misusu Doris skirt

From faux leather to Misusu Doris skirt

This fabric has a kind of a suede structure and a more or less animal print. It’s made of polyester with some elastan to give it stretch. The fabric advice for the Misusu Doris skirt is fabric with a stretch percentage of at least 40%.

I tested the fabric and measured a stretch percentage of 30-35%. This fabric is also light weighted so according to the advice in the sewing instructions I skipped the pockets in this version.

Sewing this second version was easy because it’s basically a copy of my Doris skirt version. The big difference is the size. This version has size FF. I made the piping band from a piece of leftover ‘golden coloured’ lining.

Matching T-shirt for the Faux leather Misusu Doris skirt

We bought two fabrics during our Stoffencircus visit in Leiden on Whit Monday. Youngest daughter is a huge fan of fabrics with animal prints. She spotted a remnant with a panther print in all kind of colours and asked me if it was enough to make a T-shirt.

The remnant was paid and taken home by me for a prewash. Un unpleased followed the next day. All colours were gone but slowly returned when the fabric was taken into the sunshine. Youngest daughter bought without knowing it magic UV jersey fabric. An unexpected wonderful surprise. I used the self drafted dress pattern for this make.
