A few days ago I was reading a SewingwithD blogpost about 100 Item Sewing Challenge 2017.  She found on Facebook a group called 100 Item Sewing Challenge. There are prizes to win and there are a few rules. You have to make at least 100 items in one year and also at least 8 items each month. Some of the other rules were smaller items like underwear counts 0.5, items sewn to sell don’t count and 50% has to be selfish sewing. She had an impressive list of 125 items. I was wondering how many items I made. Here is my overview homemade items 2017.

I made three dresses, two trousers, five sweaters, elf T-shirts, four blouses, one jacket, two cardigans and one bag. Three T-shirts were refashions which always give me a great feeling. One blouse and one T-shirt are made of leftovers. Finding good use for leftovers is also something that makes me happy. The bag is a re-design and is also made using pieces of a discarded bag. The refashion of the GBSB Drapey knit is not on my list but I wore this refitted dress with great pleasure.

My husband has besides two boxershorts and two white T-shirts also five homemade leisure time T-shirts and five dress shirts in his wardrobe. My mother has now a remake of her well beloved Top and a Top with some stripe playing. I surprised one of my lovely friends with a Japanese styled apron. Three female members of a rowing organisation committee have now a homemade suit, one a white skirt and one male member a white jacket. I sewed a new robe, a skirt and a dress for wedding for our youngest daughter, participated in two swap challenge making a toilet bag for my swap partner and two cushions and a table runner. Ten bibs but also two bags went to charity.

I also made some other items then clothes like toys decorations and accessoires. First an overview of the homemade decorations and accessoires. A bunch of six tulips and a penguin in an egg. An ice cream, the Easter rabbit, a pencil case, a purse and a travel neck pillow some are useful and some are just for decoration. Last but not least the toys. I made seven soft toys. One of my favourite is the fox made of a discarded and felted old sweater. The denim wale is of course another great refashion. I loved designing, making the pattern and writing the instruction for the Christmas lucky rag doll pig.

I’ve made 78 items and count 29 selfish makes. There are non at all close to 100. You don’t have to be a mathematician to see I didn’t also made the 50% selfish makes. I already started sewing without setting a goal for a specific number of finished items at the end of 2018.

    • Thank you so much Diane. Sewing softs is always something I enjoy. If you wouldn’t have been writing about the hundred sewing items per year I never would have written mine. I was surprised when I did my counting and saw the result.
